Maruti Suzuki India Ltd, the country’s largest carmaker has a number of bestsellers in its portfolio. Of them all Maruti Swift is perhaps one of the most significant in its category. The car is all set to get a newer version later this year and the Suzuki Swift 2011 retailed abroad is already bringing laurels to the company.
The Maruti Swift 2011 has been voted the safest supermini in the UK as it flaunts a 4-star NCAP rating. The Maruti Swift 2011 is built of tough but light high tensile steel body and comes with adequate airbags including driver airbags, passenger airbags and even curtain airbags.
The car is designed in a way that its bonnet, front bumper, wings and wipers absorb the impact in case of a pedestrian is hit. Some other safety features include a redesigned accelerator-brake-clutch, ABS, EBD and brake assist, pre tensioned seat belts etc.
But the Indian version might not get a few of these features due to pricing issues.
The new Maruti Swift 2011 is also more spacious and comes with a bigger wheelbase as compared to its existing model. The platform too is totally new with an increased 90mm length and 50mm wheelbase. The car flaunts its typical but fresh looking larger swept-back headlights, new grille, a prominent intake and better bumpers.
The rear gets a new tailgate and the boot gets a higher loading lip. Interior are spacious and built quality is very good. The car has a new V-shaped console which is a Kizashi look-alike and it gets red backlight and the swankier dials. Other features include keyless stop-start system, USB input and Bluetooth connectivity.
Under the hood the car remains the same and will be powered by the existing 1.2 K-series petrol and the 1.3 Fiat diesel engines.
