The Maruti Wagon R is one of the largest selling car models in the Indian market. The Wagon R has been receiving an overwhelming response from the buyers since its launch in the Indian market, though in April 2010, Maruti Suzuki launched a new generation version of the Wagon R model with a 1.0L K-series engine and a series of new features. In this launch, the Wagon R has been offered a fresh look by providing an enhanced wheelbase and increased length. The car also come equipped with a range of safety features including ABS, front & rear airbags, fog lamps and defogger.

The launch of a new avatar of Wagon R in April 2010 was followed by the launch of new CNG version in August 2010. The CNG kit in the car has been loaded with a Dual ECU system that ensures greater performance, comes with full warranty coverage, and CNG system leak-proofing of the kit. In February 2011, the company has also rolled-out an LPG version of the car – Wagon R Duo – in the country.

The Wagon R is available in the price segment of Rs 3.4 - 4.2 Lacs, where it is competing with the likes of Chevrolet Spark and Beat, Hyundai I10 and Santo Xing, etc

As mentioned above, the new generation Maruti Wagon R comes powered with the company’s latest 1.0L K-series engine that has already proved its performance in A-Star model. The finer K-series engine of Wagon R delivers a peak power of 68 PS at 6200 rpm along with a top torque of 90 Nm at 3200 rpm. The CNG version of the car delivers a maximum power of 59.3 Ps at 6200 rpm along with a top torque of 77 Nm at 3500 rpm. The Wagon R comes equipped with a five speed manual transmission.


Performance of the Wagon R

The powerful performance of the Wagon R model makes it one of the most preferred small hatchbacks in the Indian market. On one hand, its new K-series engine delivers a considerably high fuel economy of up to 18.9 kmpl; on the other hand, the superior suspension system of the car ensures a safe and comfortable performance on the road. Even with this, the Wagon R model takes just 15.9 seconds to break the speed barrier of 100 km/h.

The new age Wagon R model carries a charismatic exterior along with a number of new age features including blue tinted headlights, body colored OVRMs, moon rock silver roof rails and alloy wheels.
